(hal-see-uhn)
calm; peaceful; tranquil
I love to travel and last year I was able to visit a land where time seemingly stands still. Nestled in a corner of Northern Italy, Venice was built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. Venice was magical. To use the well-oiled phrase that it was a ‘dream come true’ would not be giving it justice. It was more than that. It was supernatural.
It is well-known for the gentle people, the scrumptious food, majestic churches and exquisite museums, along with seemingly never-ending halcyon days. But what I didn’t expect was the pure and unadulterated quiet that it offered.
We walked everywhere. What is so unique about Venice is that there are no cars and no roads. Not one single one. It is what makes Venice so unique. Not an Uber in site. And in 3 weeks, I didn't miss this mode of transportation. It was replaced by the clicking of shoes on cobblestone streets. Bringing with it a melody all it's own.
Hidden and tucked deeply within the meandering streets of Venice, are little pieces of joy, just waiting to be discovered. Taking me on a daily, glorious treasure hunt.
I left a piece of my heart there and one day soon, I would like to go back. That piece of my heart needs some company to keep it warm:)
Creatively His, Sue:)
